Designer Cathy Kelly to Display Unique Beach Inspired Art at Craft Fair

Sea Glass Jewelry and Artwork Among Items for Sale

Glen Burnie, MD -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/07/2013 -- Designer Cathy Kelly will be offering her sea glass artwork for sale at the St. Philip Neri Fall Craft Fair, on October 19. The event, scheduled to be held at 6401 Orchard Road, Linthicum, MD, runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. In addition to Kelly's sea glass jewelry and artwork, the fair plans to host about 130 other crafters, offering handmade items. These include seasonal items, country designs, wood crafts, quilting, dried floral arrangements, and more. Shoppers can also enjoy food and drink.

Kelly's offerings will include one-of-a-kind jewelry and art made from sea glass. She will include finished jewelry and art, but will also take custom jewelry orders. In addition to displaying her wares at the St. Philip Neri Fall Craft Fair, Kelly is currently getting ready for a busy holiday season. She states, "I have been creating lots of beautiful sea glass and sea pottery jewelry, pendants and necklaces, earrings, bracelets and anklets. I have around 125 pieces completed and about 40 near completion, most waiting for necklaces. I am also trying to add...new types of sea glass crafts."

Speaking about the reason that she creates from nature, Kelly explains, "I believe there is not only merit in a perfectly tumbled and frosted piece of sea glass, but also in a remnant of a bottle, or an insulator, or a lovely piece of china or pottery. These things have real history behind them and are what I call sea glass "artifacts". I believe they make the most unique jewelry pieces."

The designer uses many types of sea glass and beach artifacts to craft unique jewelry and artwork. She will create designs with her own sea glass, or use her customers' materials. Kelly focuses on high-quality results, stating, "I am a perfectionist and am a real stickler when it comes to the quality of my creations, so it takes me longer to create jewelry and crafts than it takes other people. I would rather produce fewer, better quality items." The designer is the owner of Sea Glass Visions, a business dedicated to providing authentic sea glass pottery and jewelry. Her creations are crafted from glass found locally, and in Hawaii, Seaham Beach, England, and California.

"I love creating sea glass jewelry and art. Actually, I think that the two are the same, some may not. Sea glass can be incorporated not only into jewelry but into all types of art.", states Kelly. She is able to produce artwork from sea glass in dozens of colors and textures. Examples of her work are displayed at http://www.etsy.com/shop/SeaGlassVisions. Kelly also documents the creative process and provides information about her work at her site, seaglassvisions.com.
