Diisopropylbenzene are soluble in ether, alcohol, acetone and benzene, whereas they are insoluble in water. Furthermore, Diisopropylbenzene is used as an intermediate for the synthesis of synthetic lubricants, stabilizers, polymers, and hydroperoxides. The extract solution is di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (HDEHP) in diisopropylbenzene (DIPB) used in the trivalent actinide-lanthanide separation by phosphorus reagent extraction from aqueous komplexes process for separating trivalent lanthanides from trivalent actinide cations. It also finds application in nuclear fuel reprocessing.
