Dime Store Zombies Feed off Their Fans' Love of Rock Music

Always hungry for more fans and media attention, rock band Dime Store Zombies released their self-titled debut album last year and will now have a featured track on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 6.

Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/18/2014 -- Born from the hunger of zombies feeding off the talents of another Orange, Calif., band, Dime Store Zombies have unleashed their debut album on the world and are ready to eat the brains of their new fans and critics alike. Most recently, Dime Store Zombies appeared on the cover of Down the Line Magazine and had a feature interview inside. They now are prepared to have their track, “San Juan Skyway,” featured on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 6.

Dime Store Zombies are comprised of four members in a traditional rock band structure: James Preston on vocals and keyboards, Mike Baker on drums, Chris Berry on guitar and Jack Luster on bass. Officially, as the story goes, SLIDE, the foursome’s original band, was eaten by zombies, and thus the project Dime Store Zombies was born. They said in their recent interview that their band name was inspired by two of their song titles, “Political Zombie” and “Dime Store Queer,” and was a nod to James’ father, who was a CEO of J.J. Newberry’s, one of the original dime stores. Now they say that name can be viewed as social commentary regarding consumerism and how it is played out in culture today.

As for their music, Dime Store Zombies name 60s psychedelic bands as their primary musical influences, and they often look to such concepts as spiritual questioning, the examination of one’s faith, sexual orientation, socialism and the harm technology is doing to society for lyrical inspiration. As a result, their music is most often compared to the Ramones, Neon Trees, The B52s and Devo. To share this sound with the world and potential fans and critics, Dime Store Zombies released their self-titled debut album in September 2013.

Dime Store Zombie’s track, “San Juan Skyway” will be featured on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 6, a collection of international independent talent spanning a wide range of genres who WiFi wants to get on the radars of music lovers and industry tastemakers the world over. Set to be released at Toronto’s NXNE this month, the digital mixtape will be handed out on 3,500 download cards to festival attendees, and 1,500 more download copies will be made available on the Indie Anthems Bandcamp page.

Dime Store Zombies does not currently have any shows booked but plans to schedule some in the feature, and that information can be found on their website. In the past, Dime Store Zombies has enjoyed a number of successful performances, including performing on the main stage at the Orange County Pride Festival in August 2013.

Dime Store Zombies has their music available on Amazon, iTunes and CD Baby. Fans can also watch videos on the band’s YouTube channel, including a video for “Political Zombie.”
