Brandon, MB -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/27/2019 -- Lists in QuickBooks are a useful way of clearly presenting information about a customer's business. The information is either displayed through a basic list that includes a relatively simple set of content, such as a list of names, or a complex list includes that contains more detailed content, such as a list of names and related currency amounts.
If list data gets corrupted in a QuickBooks file, you would notice that all or most of your vendors or customers don't appear where they should, or invoices and payments get associated with the wrong accounts.
Re-sorting puts a list back to its default order. If you have manually changed the order of a list, re-sorting it will also undo your changes.
Resetting some of the features in the database – such as making a QuickBooks backup with "full verification," creating and restoring a "portable company file," performing a "rebuild data" function and re-sorting lists, would in fact help with common QuickBooks List issues.Re-sorting puts a list back to its default order. If you have manually changed the order of a list, re-sorting it will also undo your changes.
Re-sorting QuickBooks lists is an effective way to fix problems you may run into with QuickBooks for Windows and QuickBooks for Mac. John Rocha, E-Tech's Technical Services Manager pointed to the issues that can be resolved by resorting lists such as new entries that always show up at the top of your list, reports showing items out of order, inability to turn on account numbers in the Chart of Accounts, the Advanced Find, the name filter drop-down auto-fill doesn't work properly.
Moreover, QuickBooks Premier and Pro have a hard limit of 14,500 names in the data file. A name is a customer, vendor, account, employee, item or other name. Once you hit that limit for the combined list of names, you are forced to upgrade to the costlier QuickBooks Enterprise.E-Tech provides an industry-standard QuickBooks List Size Reduction service that will bring down the number of Customers, Vendors, or Items from your QuickBooks data file. The service reduces list items in your QuickBooks data file without the loss of any historical transactions.
