Dr. Deborah Haskins to Give Keynote Speech at 34th Annual Statewide Conference on Compulsive Gambling

 

Hamilton, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/02/2016 -- The Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey's (CCGNJ) 34th Annual Statewide Conference on Compulsive Gambling will take place on Friday, September 16th, 2016, at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor, New Jersey. This year's Conference will focus on "Gambling From a Multicultural Perspective," and will feature a keynote speech by Dr. Deborah Haskins, Ph.D., LPC, NCGC-II.

Dr. Haskins is a distinguished figure in the field of problem gambling prevention and the CCGNJ is honored by the opportunity to host her. Dr. Haskins' keynote speech, entitled "Melting Pot or Mosaic: Diversity and Problem Gambling Awareness," will explore how different cultural backgrounds affect disordered gambling. Her presentation will shed light on how and why gambling addiction professionals should approach each patient with an awareness of their individual cultural background.

In addition to Dr. Haskins' keynote, the 34th Annual Statewide Conference on Compulsive Gambling will feature a plenary session by Mayumi Okuda-Benavides, M.D. and workshops on topics such as how disordered gambling affects society, the risk factors of gambling disorders in minorities, cultural competency and the links between addiction and intimacy. The conference is approved by the International Compulsive Gambling Counselor Certification Board for 6 CEU hours, and the Addiction Professionals Certification Board, Inc. has certified it for 6 CEU hours towards LCADC/CADC certification.
