Reston, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/18/2014 -- Dr. Jacqueline Griffiths of NewView Eye Center has been nominated as a 2014 Top Doctor by Northern Virginia Magazine, a prestigious honor that’s only given to a handful of medical professionals in the greater Washington, DC area. This exciting award comes fast on the heels of her previous professional accomplishment, where she was named a Super Doctor by the Washington Post in October 2013.
“I’m honored to be recognized by Northern Virginia Magazine as a leader in the field of Ophthalmology,” Dr. Griffiths says. “This honor highlights my commitment to my patients, which is to provide premier eye care services; including comprehensive exams, cataract surgery, laser vision correction, and cosmetic procedures.”
This esteemed honor is yet another accomplishment in the ophthalmologist’s illustrious career, who is also the founder of New View Eye Center in Reston, Virginia. To name the area’s Top Doctors, Northern Virginia Magazine takes the peer nomination a step further. In addition to asking doctors in Northern Virginia who, in their expert opinion, should be dubbed a Top Doctor, Northern Virginia Magazine works with nine local hospitals to identify these professionals. These hospitals included Children’s Medical Center, as well as Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. Northern Virginia Magazine asked these hospitals to put together a panel of head doctors to discriminately look at doctors with privileges at their hospital.
Each panel nominated doctors based on all the internal tools they are privy to, including internal evaluations, patient reviews, as well as overall quality of care. This includes factors such as patient access, training, unblemished records, and how the doctor works with other staff members.
Dr. Griffiths is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in laser vision correction and cataract surgery. Dr. Griffiths earned her undergraduate degree at Yale University and her medical degree at the University of Michigan. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, which eventually lead to starting New View Eye Center in Reston in 1999. Dr. Griffiths currently serves as the Medical Director at her practice.
