Dr. Lambert Takes a Prevention and Intervention Approach to Children's Dentistry

Bethlehem, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/08/2015 -- Early visits to the dentist are important for children, even babies. Dr. Lambert uses the latest techniques to introduce a child to the dental experience in a way that is fun, appealing and pleasing. Building a positive foundation from as early as the age of two can create a lifelong comfort and trust in receiving dental care.

Early prevention and intervention maintain healthy smiles before problems can develop. Dr. Lambert offers a Free Well Baby Dental Checkup, a complimentary exam to make sure the baby's teeth are developing normally.

He also offers a Free Pre-School Exam to help get the pre-school aged child familiar with the dentist office. It allows the child to get acquainted with Dr. Lambert and the dental team who will explain the sights and sounds of a dental checkup.

According to AAPD (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry) guidelines, infants should initially visit the dentist around the time of their first birthday. Those first visits can be stressful for parents, especially if the parents have dental phobias themselves.

Dr. Lambert comments, "Our dental office is colorful, child-friendly, and boasts a wide selection of games, toys and educational tools. Our aim is to make the child feel as welcome as possible during all visits."

Dr. Lambert offers some tips for parents bringing their child to the first dental visit. "Talk about the fact that the child has an appointment with the dentist. Explain what happens at the dentist without mentioning needles or drills. Books that are age-appropriate can be very helpful explaining the dental visit," remarks Dr. Lambert.

There are several reasons for the first dental visit, most importantly, that Dr. Lambert and his dental team get acquainted with the little one. Then Dr. Lambert can evaluate the development of the teeth and jaw to get an idea of the child's complete dental health. Lastly, Dr. Lambert will recommend any necessary X-rays to check for decay and to monitor the progress of your child's permanent teeth developing under the gums.

Professional dental organizations provide Dr. Lambert with the opportunity to network with other dedicated professionals in the field of dentistry. He is a member in good standing with many professional organizations.
