Oakdale, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/20/2014 -- In the past, patients would have to visit the dentist’s office not once, but twice, to have a crown placed. Now, Dr. Richard Timm of All Family Dental is offering his patients new technology that enables him to place a permanent crown in just one visit to his office.
Dr. Timm provides patients with the latest technology in same-day crowns, fillings and restoring teeth with CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics). It is a system for making porcelain crowns, inlays, onlays and repairing veneers during one visit. The procedure takes approximately two hours from start to finish. Thanks to CAD-CAM, the software that works with this system incorporates a camera, computer and milling machine in just one piece of technology.
Dr. Timm can cost-effectively restore damaged teeth in one visit. To match the natural color of the other teeth, Dr. Timm uses a high-quality ceramic material. To obtain an accurate picture of the damaged tooth, he likes the edge he gets from the special camera. This optical impression is transferred to and displayed on a full spectrum color computer where Dr. Timm puts into motion CAD technology to design the restoration. From there, CAM takes over the procedure and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. In the final stage, Dr. Timm bonds the new crown to the surface of the old tooth.
