Therefore, during the period between April 1, 2018, and September 30, 2018, Duron Smith A/C & Heat is proud to announce that they will be participating in a No Kid Hungry donation campaign. This year, the company has installed a goal to provide up to 15,000 meals to hungry children across the country.
In 2010, Show Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve the issues of hunger and poverty in the U.S., began the No Kid Hungry program to help find the best approaches to lead to the eradication of hunger.
The No Kid Hungry campaign provides school breakfast, after-school meals, and summer meals for its constituents. Providing healthy meals can be difficult to schedule for busy families but providing a healthy breakfast as part of the school day, and similar to lunch, helps ensure proper nutrition and a community feel in the classroom.
For some children, lunch at school may be the last meal they have of the day. No Kid Hungry provides afterschool meals and snacks to those less fortunate so they can stay active and alert throughout the entire day.
But perhaps most importantly, the summer months can be the hardest time of the year from children. Some kids can struggle to get enough to eat when they are no longer getting fed at school. To combat this, No Kid Hungry offers free meals during the summer at schools and community centers.
