Norristown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/17/2015 -- At the Elmwood Park Zoo, there is never a dull experience to be had. As one of the leading attractions for things to do near Philadelphia, PA, the zoo is the source for not only a learning opportunity but also fun and entertainment. Elmwood Park Zoo is pleased to announce that they have a variety of upcoming events for the month of August. Aside from hosting weddings and birthday parties, the facility is a known hotspot for zip line courses, festivals, picnics, blood drives and more.
On Friday, August 21, the zoo will be offering the unique opportunity to participate in the Night Adventures of Treetop Adventures, which features rope and zip line courses in the dark while wearing a headlamp. Customers who reserve a spot for the experience will arrive at 8:30 pm for a pizza dinner and endure the course, which takes about two to three hours to complete. Those 21 and over will receive a complimentary Zoo Brew beer. Reservations can be made online.
The annual picnic for members will be held on August 26, from 4 pm to 8 pm, filled with entertaining activities. A live animal show will take place at 6 pm and the event will also have free carousel rides, giraffe feedings, discounted pony and train rides and discounted face painting. Each person will receive one meal ticket and will be subject to 35% off of membership renewals and items from the Nature Shop.

Earlier that day, during regular park hours, the American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive from 11 am to 4 pm, which offers free admission for guests who make an appointment prior to arriving to the zoo. Attendees who donate blood without an appointment will receive free feeding tickets, valid for either the giraffe or bison areas.
Last but not least, Andie Summers from 92.5 XTU radio station will be broadcasting live from the zoo on August 29, for the park's annual Country Fest event. From 1 pm to 4 pm, guests will enjoy an afternoon of crafts, special games, mechanical bull riding and live music by Amanda Nolan and Kendal Conrad.
