England Bail Bonds has returned three million dollars to the family of Saudi student Thamer Albalwi after a conspiracy was revealed attempting to extort his family of 20 million dollars.
Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/28/2014 -- England Bail Bonds in Los Angeles has just returned the staggering $3 million collateral used to secure the bail of Thamer Albalwi. Albalwi was arrested on March 12, 2014 on charges of rape and kidnapping. The twenty three year old Saudi Arabian exchange student was accused by Leyla Ors of rape, torture and imprisonment in a Los Angeles Condo. The sensational story, and the wealth of Albalwi’s family, ensured a massive bail of three million was set for the student.
England Bail Bonds’ Morris Demayo was chosen by Albalwi’s legal representatives to handle the bond, as he specializes in large and complicated bail bonds. $3,240,000.00 was wired from Saudi Arabia to cover a modest 8% bail premium and Thamer was released on bail.
On July 7, 2014, the story took a shocking turn when Los Angeles authorities declared that Leyla Ors’ accusations against Thamer Albalwi were part of a conspiracy with two of LA’s most prominent attorneys. The trio had planned to extort around $20 million from the Albalwi family.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James R. Dabney declared Albalwi innocent and ordered all charges against him dismissed, while authorities charged Leyla Ors, 33, and lawyers Joseph G. Cavallo and Emanuel K. Hudson with extortion and three counts of conspiracy: to commit extortion, to receive a bribe and to obstruct justice. If convicted, each could spend up to four years in prison.
On July 19, England Bail Bonds’ Morris Demayo happily returned the $3 million collateral to the Albalwi family.
A spokesperson for England Bail Bonds explained, “Morris Demayo is one of our very best bail bondsmen and specializes in large and complex bail bonds in Los Angeles. Handling this case, being both high profile and highly volatile, required a delicate touch and Demayo excelled himself in his handling of this complex process. It was with great pleasure that we were able to return to the Albalwi family three million dollars in collateral, and we wish Thamer the best in his future endeavors.”
