Environmental App by Green Driver Helps People Protect the Environment and Save Money on Gas

Arlington, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/17/2013 -- Green Driver, the environmental app for IOS and Android platforms that helps drivers to significantly reduce the amount of gas they consume when driving, recently announced that they are launching a campaign on Indiegogo.com to help raise funds to build the beta version of this revolutionary new software.

While the majority of people today would identify as being eco-conscious, many still do not realize that certain driving styles and habits can have severe consequences for the environment and their pocketbooks. For example, according to the United States Department of Energy, for every one gallon of gas consumed 19 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions are released into the atmosphere.

Green Driver gives everyone the opportunity to help save the environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by teaching drivers the proper habits to maximize their fuel efficiency.

Green Driver is an inexpensive and easy-to-use tool that transmits fuel efficiency data to the driver’s iPhone or Android through a bluetooth adaptor that is connected to the vehicle’s onboard computer. This information is then translated into an intuitive readout that teaches drivers how to drive in a way that makes their cars as fuel efficient as possible. Common driving habits that contribute to less than optimal fuel efficiency may include idling, speeding, jackrabbit starts, jerky stops and others.

There are currently more than 150 million vehicles in the United States producing more than one-third of the total greenhouse gas output in the country. Preliminary studies suggest that the majority of drivers who use Green Driver will be able to easily reduce their fuel consumption by at least one gallon per week, which means that for every 100 drivers using Green Driver, the total output of greenhouse gasses would be reduced by 100,000 pounds in just one year. This constitutes the equivalent CO2 intake of 2,000 trees.

Drivers who would like to go green and begin their eco-driving experience are encouraged to donate to the Green Driver fundraising campaign, where for just $25 they will receive the Green Driver car adapter, and for only $100 they will receive the entire green driving package, which will likely pay for itself through fuel savings in less than one year.
