Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization operating now as Evergreen Life Services. They have just launched a crowdfunding campaign to build community homes for individuals suffering from intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Haughton, LA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/15/2016 -- Evergreen Life Services has been providing excellent services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities since their inception in 1959. This non-profit is known for their efforts to improve the lives of people disabilities. Evergreen not only serves the basic needs of these individuals, but also teaches the life skills to help them achieve their own personal potential.
Evergreen entered a cooperative endeavour agreement with the state of Louisiana in October 2012 to take over the operations of the state run institution for individuals with disabilities. Now, they are looking to build and/or renovate homes within the community for the transition of the individuals living in the North Lake institution to their own homes and community. Each of these homes will accommodate six to eight individuals.
The total estimated cost for building ten homes is approximately $4.65 million. Four of these homes have been completed, and individuals are already living there. The construction of the remaining nine homes is underway, and the target completion date for all of them is September 30, 2016. However, Evergreen Life Services is seeking funding support to help build these homes and make a difference in the lives of over 200 people!
Inviting the backers to make a contribution to this project, a senior spokesperson from Evergreen Life Services said, "With the Building Better Lives Campaign, you have the opportunity to give toward specific needs to build each home and change the lives of these individuals. You can choose to give directly to the building and construction of these homes or give towards specific items in the home such as appliances, furniture, etc. You can also give a gift in-kind.
