Ouray, CO -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/19/2019 -- For anyone that has never tried hiking, Box CaƱon Waterfall & Park is a great place to start. This geological marvel is near Canyon Creek and will likely amaze with its visual bravura. The "box" portion remains an officially protected habitat by the National Audubon Society and it also serves as the home of the endangered Black Swift Bird. This hike can be enjoyed in as little as fifteen minutes if no stops are made but there will likely be frequent stops along the trail.

The Perimeter Trail is two and a half hours to navigate and is closer to a moderate challenge. The trail is about six miles long and will take hikers through natural scenery like Cascade Falls, the Potato Patch, and more.

Old Horsethief Trail is a fine choice for those that have a large degree of hiking experience. The trek takes about four to five hours to complete and begins roughly 100 yards north of the Ouray Visitor Center. Skyrocket Creek and Bridal Veil Creek plus several abandoned mines are among the sights hikers will encounter.
