Spokane, WA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/28/2015 -- Universal Funding recently provided a donation to help support a local child who was born with a rare form of dwarfism. The family of Calvin Smith, a local 7-year-old boy from Liberty Lake, Washington, has an immediate goal to raise $4500. The funds will be applied towards travel and medical expenses so that a specialist whose emphasis is Metatropic Dysplasia can treat Calvin.

Metatropic means "changing shape"; this rare form of dwarfism affects the long bones, spine, and joints, causing a dwarfed stature. This rare form of dwarfism can lead to paralysis and even death. Calvin's family must travel to Wilmington Delaware to see a specialist who can treat him properly with his accelerating condition. He has previously received excellent treatment from Seattle Children's Hospital, but with fewer than 100 reported cases of this rare case of dwarfism worldwide, it's time for Calvin to see a doctor who has worked with other patients with the same rare condition.

$1000 was donated by Universal Funding to help the Smith family reach their $4500 goal.
