Scottsdale, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/26/2016 -- The Creating Wealth show host Jason Hartman spoke to critically acclaimed New York Times bestselling author and trends researcher Harry Dent. The financial pundits discussed a variety of topics, including current demographic data and how it ties into the economy, unknown causes of the 2008 Great Recession, and the coming global depression.

The conversation began with Dent explaining why consumers struggled to overcome the 2008 financial crisis.

"For 25 years, from 1983-2008, debt in the U.S. grew 2.7 times faster than GDP," Dent said. "You can't grow that fast without having a debt crisis."

To fight the Great Recession, the U.S. government and Federal Reserve printed money to mask the debt, which has created bubbles in stocks, bonds, real estate, and precious metals.

"The Dow will hit 6,000," Dent predicts. "The Shanghai will go down 70% close to 1,000. History has shown that markets reach new highs and then crash."

The Dow Jones Industrial Average reached an all-time high past 18,700 in August. Leading the coming crash will be the destruction of the fracking industry, which has suffered as a result of low oil prices.

"$600 billion of the $1 trillion fracking industries are highly leveraged debt," Dent said. "It will kill the junk bond markets and make Greece, Portugal and Spain's default issues look like nothing."
