New York, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/03/2014 -- New York City is known for a lot of things: finance, fashion, architecture, politics, music, art and sports. But did you know that New York, “the city which never sleeps,” may also be one of the most haunted cities in the world?
“There are thousands of spirits who haunt the many parks, buildings and streets of New York,” said Victor Magnus, a New York magician who co-hosts the Mysteries of New York Ghost Walk (http://www.newyorkghostwalk.com), a guided tour through the city’s mysterious, unusual and supernatural history.
Those who take the tour will see haunted sites and experience ghostly stories and mysteries from the Dutch beginnings of New Amsterdam to the modern day. It also coincides with the 30th Anniversary of Ghostbusters.
“There will also be stories of riots, tragedy, disappearances and much more,” Magnus said. “Every tour will be a unique experience. Who knows? Maybe some of the very ghosts we talk about on the tour will join us.”
The Mysteries of New York Ghost Walk is offered Wednesday through Saturday, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the two-hour tour are $20 and can be ordered through the Ghost Walk website (http://www.newyorkghostwalk.com). The tour begins in front of the Halloween Adventure Store at 808 Broadway.
Although walk-up sales are sometimes available, advance reservations are recommended. There is a $5 surcharge for walk-up sales.
The Mysteries of New York Ghost Walk is hosted by Victor Magnus and Father Sebastiaan, who also runs the renowned Mysteries of Paris Ghost & Vampire Tours. Father Sebastiaan has been featured on the Travel Channel, Zak Bagan’s Netherworld and ArtE as well as in the New York Times.
Stops on the tour include the building where the bones of the last Dutch Governor of New Amsterdam rest and sites of haunted parties of a corrupt New York mayor. “You’ll hear about their wanderings from the afterlife and the mischief they still make,” said Magnus.
