Financial Resources Employees Spread Holiday Cheer for Those in Need

The annual Jersey Cares Coat Drive is critical to those in the community suffering through the long winter without proper clothing

Bridgewater, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/23/2014 -- Once again, the employees of Financial Resources Federal Credit Union spent much of the Holiday Season doing their part to help those less fortunate in the community while making the Holiday season a little brighter for area children. As part of the Credit Union’s “Show You Care” Program, employees volunteered their time to a number of worthy causes:

Financial Resources and Jersey Cares team up for Annual Coat Drive

The annual Jersey Cares Coat Drive is critical to those in the community suffering through the long winter without proper clothing. As part of the Coat Drive, gently used coats were donated and collected by Financial Resources employees and then were dropped off for distribution by Jersey Cares. The coats were donated to those in need throughout New Jersey.

Financial Resources Donates Critical Food and Supplies to Area Food Pantries

Financial Resources administrative office team members recently hosted their own food drive to benefit The Franklin Township Food Bank, the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, the Flemington Area Food Pantry and the Hillsborough Food Pantry. The team collected the items purchased by the credit union and then filled bags with non-perishable food items and donated to each of the pantries. “We look forward to participating in the Annual Food Drive during the Holiday Season, “ said Lena Matthews, President and CEO of Financial Resources. “There is no greater need in our community than feeding the hungry and those less fortunate and we want to do our part.” This was the 5th consecutive year Financial Resources has participated in the food drive.

Financial Resources Employees and Members Rally for the United Way “Gifts of the Season” Toy Drive

Kind-hearted employees and members of Financial Resources collected new toys for the annual "Gifts of the Season 2013" toy drive. This annual event provides toys for needy children and teens. “The United Way had projected that the needs for new toys would be great this year”, said Lena Matthews, President and CEO of Financial Resources. “Thanks to all of our members and employees who participated in helping make a brighter holiday for children and teens in our communities.”

Gifts given through this program may be the only ones received by those less fortunate in our communities. For parents, receiving gifts for their children enables them to use their limited financial resources to pay for basic needs such as food, utilities, or rent.

The collected toys benefitted the United Way of Northern New Jersey in Bridgewater and the Hunterdon County United Way in Flemington, NJ.

Financial Resources and CASA SHaW bring Holiday Happiness to Needy Kids

Financial Resources Federal Credit Union partnered once again with CASA SHaW to sponsor 33 children for the holidays. CASA SHaW is an agency that provides community volunteers to act as advocates in court for children who have been abused or neglected and are in the foster care system in Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren counties. Credit Union associates donated gifts, which were then wrapped and tagged with the child’s name or initials.

“CASA SHaW has always been an organization near and dear to the hearts of our employees,” said Lena Matthews, President and CEO of Financial Resources. “It is truly our pleasure to be able to part of such an important initiative during the holiday season.”
