Paris, France -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/29/2014 -- Visitors heading to Istanbul usually receive one special piece of traveling advice – Beware of Tarlabasi. French and Italian filmmakers have created a unique documentary, Tarlabasi ve Ben (Tarlabasi and Me), to tell the story of Mustafa from Adana who decides to start his life over at the age of 50 as a waste picker in Tarlabasi and they've launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise finishing funds for completion postproduction and distribution costs and to raise awareness of the story and Tarlabasi itself.

For Mustafa who since his release from prison has held many kinds of informal jobs since, "Tarlabasi is a place to hide." The film tells the story evolving from Mustafa's life in the neighborhood while encountering echoes from his past life. It visits the burial of the life he attempts to forget and projects the new life he tries to build all against the backdrop of a neighborhood under the threat of destruction. Mustafa and his neighborhood are intertwined and their future's both uncertain. All the reasons which bought him to live in the neighborhood are disappearing in order to make way for expansion and the tourist industry. Soon there won't be any place to hide.

Angel investors helping fund the Tarlabasi ve Ben campaign to the next level will be eligible for perks such as thank yous, an online preview of the documentary, one's name in the end credits, a copy of the sound track, a DVD of the documentary, photo book, and ecological bag.
