Denton, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/04/2014 -- With a $10,000 goal, Grabo has launched GestureR, an Arduino-compatible gesture sensing module, as a crowdfunding project on Kickstarter.
Providing gesture sensing, proximity sensing and ambient light sensing, GestureR is tiny, inexpensive and user-friendly. As the very first gesture sensing shield found in the market, GestureR allows users to distinguish gestures in four different directions at three different speeds. For proximity sensing, GestureR can sense the distance of an object up to 10 cm from the sensor. Bringing even more technology to the hands of consumers, GestureR is also capable of measuring the level of ambient light.
Soon available in three different modules for various applications, GestureR is offered in the Shield, Bread, and Tiny models to crowdfunders. GestureR Shield measures 54 X 53 mm and has a pin assignment compatible with Arduino UNO. This allows it to be combined easily with Arduino devices that are already built. GestureR Bread is compatible with breadboards and measures 21 X 11 mm in size. Rounding out the offerings, GestureR Tiny is 11 X 11 mm and is optimal for making tiny DIY devices.
“GestureR is useful for creations like touchless power switches, smart remotes and lamps,” stated Sammel Tung, a co-founder of Grabo. True, it is up to the imagination of consumers to make this item really stand out. “All of the hardware design will be open source so there is no limit to what designers can make.” Tung added.
