With an average monthly electric bill of $12,000 prior to installation, Future Fitness Centers' owners decided to make the switch both to keep gym costs down and reduce reliance on forms of electricity that cause greenhouse gas emissions. These panels, which will cover ½ of the fitness center's electrical needs, are made up of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity, which is then made available as alternating current (AC) electricity through an inverter and electrical panel.
