Microdisplays are microminiaturized displays with diagonal screen size less than 25 mm. Microdisplays are high-density, high-resolution screens used in magnified display systems. They are used in conjunction with magnifying optics because of their size. Microdisplays are used in two basic applications: projection and near-to-eye display. MEMS microdisplays use MEMS substrates along with additional components that enable small pixel pitches and high-resolution displays.
