Harry Potter's Story Is at an End with the Opening of the Cursed Child in London

The eighth Harry Potter story: The Cursed Child opened at the Palace Theatre in London as the author: J. K. Rowling confirmed there won’t be any Harry Potter stories in the future.

Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/03/2016 -- Publicly acknowledged as the eighth Harry Potter story, The Cursed Child officially opened at the Palace Theatre on London's West End on July 30th, 2016. At the same time, a copy of the script was available in bookshops. According to the author J. K. Rowling, the story of Harry Potter has come to an end.

When the premiere of the play was on, J. K. Rowling was asked if she's bringing a new era of the stories to the public with The Cursed Child. But she stated that her famous magician's story was now at an end: "This is the next generation, you know. So, I'm thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now."

The Cursed Child takes place 19 years after Harry's last battle with Voldemort in The Deathly Hallows and follows Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco in their adult lives and the lives of their children, who struggle with the legacies of their parents. The show just got extended to be on till December 2017 at the Palace Theatre in London and could be running in other countries in the following years.

The last published novel was Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows. It was released in 2007 and was made by Warner Bros into a two-part film released separately in 2010 and 2011. Despite Rowling's confirmation that there won't be any additional Harry Potter stories planned in the future, there is a new film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, opening on November 18th. The story takes place decades before Harry's story and there are two additional sequels planned to open in the coming years.

For now it's unclear if The Cursed Child would be made into a movie, but based on the popularity of the movies Warner Bros had made and the products related to the movies like the Blu-ray discs of the movies, surely Warner Bros. wouldn't want to give up the profit and let down the people who's willing to rush to the movie theatre for Harry or curl up in bed watching the movie on Blu-ray on their computer with a Blu-ray Player.

Considering the fact that the seventh and final novel: The Deathly Hallows broke sales records as the fastest-selling book ever, a record it still held in 2012, an official published book of The Cursed Child seems to be a reasonable expectation from fans. But the one available in bookstores is a script, which doesn't seem quite appropriate for a book claimed to be the last story of Harry Potter.
