HealthyWiser Water Test Strips Portable Enough for Airline Water Test

White Plains, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/25/2016 -- Nowadays, traveling by air has become a necessity more than a luxury. While on the plane, air travelers might ask the attendants for some water. Because of the possible sources of this drinking water, should they take them?

In an article posted on website Safe Bee, reporters from The Wall Street Journal tested some water samples from airplanes and found some of them to be unsafe. The article noted that these reports collected samples coming from the airlines' galleys or the place where flight attendants fill these pitchers and sinks on 14 various flights.

According to the reported results, some harmful organisms such as salmonella and staphylococcus were found in them.

"If you order water on a flight, chances are it's coming out of a bottle – so you're safe," Safe Bee stated. "But if you see the attendant pouring water out of a pitcher, choose a canned or bottled beverage instead."

The article further explained that water served on planes go through many different agencies of authorities such as the food administration. This agency is responsible for ensuring safety of water supplies in airports and planes, such as water lines, sinks, hoses and more. Meanwhile, the onboard water containers also have to be maintained and cleaned on a regular basis.

But back in 2004, the article noted that environmental protection agencies were able to find water supplies positive of "harmless bacteria" that are "indicators that other disease-causing organisms could be in the water." The methodology of the test was reportedly questioned.

Benefits of drinking water

Drinking water has been known to facilitate weight loss programs. Various studies have proven that drinking glasses of water before taking meals every day tends to reduce the calories that each diet brings in to the body to around 75 to 90 fewer amounts. Those who drank water before meals reportedly lost more weight than those who did not have this habit.

If people have to ask water on a plane, do not hesitate to ask the attendant for bottled water instead – to keep safety of the water sources since those in pitchers are reportedly unsafe.
