Fact.MR has announced the addition of the “Hemorrhoids Treatment Device Market Forecast, Trend Analysis & Competition Tracking - Global Review 2017 to 2027"report to their offering.
Rockville, MD -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/21/2018 -- Changes in food and lifestyle habits including consumption of spicy foods, low fiber diet, alcohol intake, and others have led to the development of several diseases such as hemorrhoids. It i a condition in which veins around the lower rectum or anus are inflamed and swollen which may result from straining to move stool. Prevalence of hemorrhoids mostly among geriatric population across the globe are alleviated with specific devices and several treatment methods. Medical technology has been developed and evolved drastically in the recent years. Hemorrhoids are classified based on their location: internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids. As the name suggests, external hemorrhoids affect the veins outside or nearby the anus which can cause itching, cracking, and bleeding. It does not require a particular treatment unless it becomes highly thrombosed and painful to the patient. On the other hand, internal hemorrhoids are more severe and classified into four stages, depending on the protrusion level: Grade I non-prolapsing hemorrhoids, Grade II and Grade III are prolapsing hemorrhoids which can be reduced, and Grade IV non-reducible prolapsing hemorrhoids. With the advancement of medical technology, several methods and devices have been proven to be effective in hemorrhoid treatment. Some of them are:
Rubber Band Ligation (RBL)
Rubber band ligation is a nonsurgical intervention for the treatment of grade I and II hemorrhoids, which can be conducted with or without an endoscope. A single or multiple hemorrhoids may be treated with RBL per session. Hemorrhoids treatment devices for endoscopic band ligation consists of a plastic cap and preloaded bands fitted on the tip of an endoscope. Deployment of the band around the hemorrhoidal tissue results into fixation of connective tissue to the rectal wall. Stiegmann-Goff Bandito Endoscopic Hemorrhoidal Ligator (ConMed Corp, Utica, NY) is the only hemorrhoid treatment device, specifically marketed for endoscopic band ligation. For RBL without an endoscope, ShortShot Saeed Hemorrhoidal Multi-Band Ligator is a single, disposable hemorrhoids treatment device designed for use with an anoscope. It comes in the shape of a pistol which holds 4 preloaded bands at the tip and consists of a suction tubing port at the base of the handle. After placing the tip on the hemorrhoid, the suction is activated by covering a vent on the anterior side of the handle, then a wheel is turned using the thumb which leads to the deployment of the band. Other hemorrhoid treatment devices for RBL without an endoscope include CRH O'Regan Disposable Hemorrhoid Banding System and McGivney Hemorrhoidal Ligator.

Injection Sclerotherapy
It is a method used for treating grade I or II hemorrhoids with an injection of a sclerosing agent. Variety of scelorisng solutions are used for this method of hemorrhoid treatment including quinine, ethanolamine, hypertonic saline solution, and 5% phenol in almond oil. These agents induces inflammation by obliterating the hemorrhoid vascularity which ends with fibrosis and fixes the hemorrhoids to the surrounding tissue.
Infrared Coagulation (IRC)
In IRC, heat is directly applied on the hemorrhoid to induce fibrosis and coagulation in the submucosal layer. Some of the hemorrhoid treatment devices used for IRC are Precision Endoscopic Infrared Coagulator, IRC 2100 (non-endoscopic) and Lumatec Infrared Coagulator. Advantages of IRC for hemorrhoids treatment include effective, quick, painless, low rate of complication, and rapid recovery.
Cryosurgery or Cryotherapy
Instant cold relief are being adopted in hemorrhoid treatment which is drug-free and prevents the dangers of its side effects. Cryotherapy uses special probes to deliver cooled liquid nitrogen or nitrous oxide to the hemorrhoid tissue which results into necrosis and tissue destruction. However, cryotherapy has been reported for prolonged post-procedure symptoms and limited advantages over other treatment options which may restrain their adoption.
Hemorrhoid Stapling (Hemorrhoidectomy)
Stapling of hemorrhoids is relatively new procedure for the treatment of grade III and IV hemorrhoids. It uses specially designed circular stapler which inhibits blood flow to the tissue and reduce the hemorrhoidal prolapse. Main advantages of this procedure include reduction of pain and absence of perianal wounds.
From a market perspective, emergence of advanced and effective treatment methods is expected to foster growth in the hemorrhoid treatment device market. Growing R&D and funding for the development of innovative hemorrhoid treatment device will further enhance the lucrativeness of the market.
