Santa Monica, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/18/2014 -- The new web comedy Himmler Entertainment opens to a hot reception on FunnyorDie.com, raking in over a thousand views in their first month. Directed by Patrick Q Roberts (Baggage, The Devil's Banker) and written by Richie Stephens (Fruitvale Station, Wives with Knives).
The series centers around hotshot talent manager, Chaim Himmler, played by Max Bird-Ridnell (Sequestered, Ray Donovan) and his list of prima donna clients, each with crazier problems than the next. Every episode, with catastrophe looming, Chaim must enlist the help of his fixer, "The Plunger", played by Richie Stephens - a strange Southern gent with an unorthodox knack for solving these unorthodox problems.
With two episodes released to date and more in pre-production, the series already boasts an impressive list of guest stars including British rock star Billy Morrison (The Cult, Camp Freddie, Billy Idol) and YouTube comedic gangster phenomenon Jigga Jones. Stephens loves seeing the concept he created come to life, commenting "We have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to collaborate with so many gifted talents so far... and we have enjoyed every minute of it."
About Stephens and Roberts
Stephens and Roberts previously worked together on the docu-drama "Running Amok in Hollywood". Richie was happy to reconnect with Patrick to work on the series - "I sent several of my scripts to Patrick and he really liked this one, so we decided to shoot it and see what happens..." Working with practically no budget at all, the series has brought out the best in everyone involved as all of the actors are friends or acquaintances who were happy give their time to the collaboration. Several accomplished musical artists have also generously donated their tracks to use in the series as well.
The comedy is a break from the norm for the main actors (Bird-Ridnell/Stephens) and the director (Roberts) because their careers have been mainly focused on drama or thrillers thus far but, Roberts sums up his work on the project by saying, "I have a chance to work with some really talented people with great ideas about how to make people laugh, who would pass that up?"
