How NOT to Order a Drink at a Bar

Louisville, KY -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/24/2014 -- Consumers who often drink at bars should learn one ordering tip that will greatly improve their drinking experience. Don’t order a cranberry-vodka. In truth, there’s nothing specific about cranberry vodka that we are picking on, the main issue is not to order a house liquor mixed drink.

Let’s say a standard cranberry-vodka is $5.75 at a local bar, ordering that drink will get well vodka (aka the house vodka or rail vodka) and cranberry. The well vodka is super cheap which means the consumer is overpaying for this drink by a ton. An entire bottle of well vodka might cost the bar seven to ten dollars which means a 1000% (or more) markup for the bar. This is one major way that bars make money; ordering well vodka costs a little less so it’s ordered more often than call vodka, because of this bars make a killing.

So how to order at a bar? Customers should call choice vodka, for instance Absolut and cranberry. There will be a premium added to the drink price, probably about a dollar. So instead of a $5.75 drink, now you’re paying $6.75 but you get much better alcohol (in everyway) and a better drink experience. The one-dollar price difference is well worth the increased drink quality and the customer gets much better overall value for their money.
