Hytrol Increases Use of Robotics and Automation Featured in Wall Street Journal
Jonesboro, AR -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/09/2016 -- The Wall Street Journal report quoted Gregg Goodner, current board member and past president of Hytrol, one of the largest manufacturers of industrial conveyors in the America. Goodner commented that a growing number of companies are looking to increase their use of robotics and automation.
"The customer today is demanding their suppliers be able to deliver their product faster," said Goodner. Hytrol has used automation technology to reduce "wasted activity" in its facilities, such as time spent walking around, and to improve consistency. "We use these as competitive advantages," said Goodner. Customers' "demands are stronger, and you've got to be able to meet them or, quite truthfully, you don't play in the game."
The report comes as automation technologies are transforming supply chains from assembly lines in China to distribution centers in the U.S., adding pressure for traditional industries to work faster at lower costs. It portends well for the increasing use of lean manufacturing technology globally.
