Increase in Recruitment of Female Spies

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/17/2016 -- Reports have emerged that the UK intelligence agencies are actively recruiting more female employees in a bid to reach a target of 45% by 2021. GCHQ and MI5 placed adverts on the Mumsnet website for the first ever time in 2016 and noted the importance of higher emotional intelligence within the desired recruits whilst pushing for diversity within the organisations.

MI6 and GCHQ advertised on the Mumsnet website for the first time this year, and MI5 has raised its target for women employees to 45% by 2021. In March of 2016, the Intelligence and Security Committee reported that women make up only 19% of senior civil servants within the agencies and a total of 37% of intelligence staff overall were female.

It says action has been taken since the report was published to "increase their focus" on "all aspects of diversity", including recruiting more women. To appeal to more females, they will be promoting a flexible working environment to accommodate for talented women who have families and home commitments but the right mind set, attitude and skill set.

A spokesperson for recruitment to recruitment specialist GSR2R commented "It is great to see that equality is being embraced and promoted within the governmental and intelligence sectors. Awareness of equal rights and the push for more females within their ranks helps to encourage the shift in consciousness from the somewhat draconian and old hat preference of male employees that we have seen and had to work hard to change for the last few decades."
