Now there are many complaints from iOS 10 users that it appears to be draining their batteries quicker.

Twitter and other online forums have been filled with complains about the revamped operating system draining batteries and causing their devices to heat up. Nick Confessore, a political reporter for The New York Times, said: "I've now updated to iOS 10 and updated all my apps. Is there a reasonable technical explanation for why my iPhone battery life is down 50 per cent?"

Apple is yet to acknowledge the poor battery life issue for iOS 10 devices, but there are some explanations for the battery drain problem. Apple will do a lot of behind-the-scenes updating of apps and settings in the first few days after people update to iOS 10, which places heavy demands on the processor and battery life. Apple's Spotlight feature will also need to index the contents of the phone, which could lead to a faster-than-usual battery drain.

Some iPhone users have also claimed they have been unable to get a mobile phone signal on their device after switching the device from flight mode to general mode. T-Mobile customers in the US especially have been badly affected. When they turned the feature off they found they were unable to reconnect to their network. It comes out T-mobile advised its users not to install the updated software after the carrier settings were changed by the update which made devices unable to connect to the network.

Apple has quickly rushed out an update to fix the issues. It also released instructions for those unlucky users who found their phone's 'bricked' by the update. Therefore, users can give their device a few days to sort itself out before they downgrade iPhone to iOS 9 or switch from iPhone to Android phone. People who continue to have problems after that time can try turning off background refresh in apps where it's not needed, or visit an Apple Store for advice.

According to the latest figures from Mixpanel, about 36.66 percent of eligible users are currently running iOS 10, compared to 58.56 percent of people still running iOS 9, and just 4.78 percent running an older version of Apple's mobile operating system.
