Isabella Santos Foundation Still Accepting Registrants for Annual 5K for Children with Cancer

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/15/2014 -- Every September, the Isabella Santos Foundation puts together a charity 5K run to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Presented by the Charlotte Checkers, there is still time to register for the 7th annual Isabella Santos Foundation 5K for Kids Cancer, taking place on Saturday, September 20 at Ballantyne Corporate Park beginning at 8 am. The largest Charlotte 5K, this year is going to be bigger and better than ever, with more sponsors and participants already signed up.

The race will raise money for Neuroblastoma research, a children’s cancer that affects roughly 700 infants and children each year. Isabella Santos fought the disease for five years, in and out of hospital beds and chemotherapy treatments, until she lost her battle at the age of 7. The foundation set up the annual 5K run and one mile fun run as an event to help beat the cancer and make a difference for those children affected by Neuroblastoma.

New to the race this year is a 10K course and numerous activities for participants. Those unable to join the race can register as a Phantom Runner and receive a t-shirt through the mail. Registrants, as well as those who would like to get involved in the Neuroblastoma 5K presented by Isabella Santos Foundation, but can’t attend can partake in a silent auction, beginning online September 18.

Auction items include over 150 packages that feature swimming lessons at Charlotte Aquatics, a one-month gym membership, gift certificates, gift baskets, a ticket package to the Carolina Panthers game against the New Orleans Saints on October 30, a round of golf at the Ballantyne Resort, a bowling package at Strike City, and so much more.

The day will include a Kids Zone full of games and entertainment, raffles, and prizes for the race winners of each age group. Individuals interested in getting involved can donate to the Isabella Santos Foundation, organize their own fundraiser for the race, or become a sponsor.

Through the previous six years of the race, the fun run in Charlotte, NC has raised over $700,000 toward Neuroblastoma research, the local Ronald McDonald House, as well as Make-A-Wish. It’s not too late to get involved. Visit their website and register for the September 20 race in Charlotte today.
