Jack and Jill of America Foundation Awards over $400,000 for Youth Programs

Continues its good work for communities across America

Washington, DC -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/01/2015 -- Jack And Jill Of America Foundation, a philanthropic organization has awarded $400,000 in support of youth programs in continuation of its efforts to help the communities in the country.

It clearly understands that the youth and children are the future of different communities. That's the reason it has made this sizeable contribution, which can make a big difference to lives of many. According to Jack And Jill Of America Foundation President Lucille Allen Hadley, "This year, over 80 programs throughout the United States have been awarded grants and scholarships to ensure that we are investing in our future leaders."

Jack And Jill Of America Foundation has several organizations all over the US apply for grants every year. The grants are applied for in various categories including Independent grants, Violet Greer grants, Jacqueline Robinson grants, Lucille Allen Hadley Teen Service Project grants and Foundation Scholars. The foundation then offers grants based on its own selection criteria and ensures that it helps the cause of youth in the country.

The chosen grantees have the same vision as the Foundation, which is to transform the African-American communities, one child at a time. Youth Mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Leadership Programs with the Boys and Girls Club, educational STEM programs, Appalachian Trail Expeditions, Emerging Scientist projects, Career Explorations and many other programs get the support from the Foundation. The total grants for the year 2015-16 are over $400,000.

The batch scholars for the year include Brishaunna Angelise Mabry, The University of Alabama, Henock Solomon, University of Colorado Boulder, Amauri Hasani Ross, Dartmouth College, Joseph Jidechukwu Enwerejobi, Michigan State University and Nigel Lorenzo Barber, North Carolina State University at Raleigh. It is the aim of the Foundation to support students to and through their college life. While the students are awarded $2,500 in the first year, they can receive the same amount every year for up to four years if they maintain a 3.0 GPA. Thus it not only supports the youth but motivates them in their academic pursuits too.
