Boston, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/18/2014 -- Overall off-trade value sales decreased marginally in 2013 as Swiss consumers, in spite of the health and wellness benefits of juice, became more concerned about its high sugar content and began shifting, consequently, to healthier alternatives, such as mineral water. Nonetheless, as balanced diets and general wellbeing remained on Swiss consumers' agendas, juice remained of great interest.

Competitive Landscape

Switzerland's largest retailer, Migros, continued to lead juice, accounting for a 28% share of off-trade value sales in 2013. Ramseier followed with a 21% retail value share. The retailer, Coop, ranked third with a 17% share. Eckes-Granini maintained its fourth position in juice with a retail value share of 11%.

Industry Prospects

The health and wellness trend will continue to be a significant factor for juice product innovations over the forecast period. A greater number of organic, sustainably produced fruit juice products are expected to become available, which will reflect manufacturers' efforts to capitalise on consumer willingness to purchase organic products despite the premium price. As a result, fruit juice is expected to post a CAGR of 1% in volume terms while its constant value CAGR will only be marginally positive over the forecast period.
