Keith J. Williams Offers DUI Defense for Those Facing New DUI Charges

Doylestown, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/05/2018 -- Keith J. Williams, a DUI attorney in Bucks County, PA offers defense for individuals facing DUI charges under the new Pennsylvania state law regarding repeat DUI offenses. On October 24, 2018, the Pennsylvania Senate Bill 961 was signed into law, increasing the penalties faced by repeat DUI offenders. This law targets individuals who caused fatalities, who drive under what is considered the "highest rate" Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), or those who have been charged with drunk driving four times or more.

As a result of this new law, impaired drivers who cause a fatal accident will face charges of a minimum of five years in prison for each fatality. This is a jump from the former three years of time served for each fatality that was in place before the new law took effect. Additionally, if a driver has two or more prior DUI convictions, the minimum term in prison jumps to seven years per fatality.

Senate Bill 961 also increases the ranking of the offense for third or fourth-time offenders. A third-time offender will be charged with a felony if they are found to have a BAC of .16 percent or higher. A fourth-time DUI offender will be charged with a DUI, no matter their BAC.

Individuals facing increased DUI charges as a result of the new bill should contact a DUI attorney in Doylestown, PA immediately. Keith J. Williams fights for the rights of people charged with a DUI and works to decrease or eliminate sentencing. When people need someone to advocate for their rights, Keith J.
