Roseburg, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/28/2016 -- The ME-2 pack has set out to transform backpacks by removing the shoulder straps and eliminating the downward stress and strain on the neck, shoulders, and upper back. ME-2 Packs, The No Shoulder Strap Backpack project is in need of funding to cover the manufacturing and various other expenses. The founder of the ME-2 backpack, Candace Spears has taken the initiative of setting up a crowdfunding campaign on the most popular crowdfunding platform for innovative products KickStarter with a funding goal of at least $25,000 USD which she needs to raise by Wed, Aug 24 2016 for the project to be successfully funded.
According to the company, the ME-2 pack eliminates downward stress placed on the shoulders, as well as the cervical and thoracic vertebrae of the wearer. The backpack's unique and innovative design will be beneficial for people with physical limitations that prevent them from wearing a standard shoulder strap backpack, or simply find shoulder straps to be uncomfortable and encumbering. As specified by the company, the backpack's belt system is attached to a carbon fiber frame, providing support capable of holding over 20 pounds without placing strain on the upper body while supporting the spine and lower lumbar.
The ME-2 will be manufactured out of a specific type of fabric to ensure high durability, toughness and lightweight, the backpacks will also be waterproof with water resistant fabric and zippers. The ME-2 backpacks will be made entirely in America; all of the materials used to manufacture the product will also be sourced from local manufacturers.
The idea for the shoulder strapless backpack came to Candace in response to an injury she received that prevented her from wearing traditional backpacks with shoulder straps "I had an accident at the beginning of Blossom Bar on the Rogue River in Oregon. I almost drowned while rafting and received multiple injuries, which led me onto the path of frustration and the creation of the ME-2 backpack!" – Candace said about her inspiration for the ME-2 backpack.
The crowdfunding campaign is successfully underway. A variety of different rewards and perks are also being offered to prize the generosity of those who support the campaign and the project through their monetary contributions the rewards include ME-2 backpacks that can only be bought through the campaign for now. The company hopes to counter and challenges by developing relationships which enables them to work closely, and efficiently to ensure the supply chain flows smoothly.
