Monico, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/09/2016 -- The Kovac Planetarium, located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, was built by Frank Kovac and is the world's largest mechanical globe planetarium. It is one of only four known structures of this style. Now, Frank Kovac has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to pay off debt that will allow the planetarium to become self-sufficient.
Kovac Planetarium, "Where the World Revolves Around You," is one of the most unique planetarium in the world. Frank Kovac, the creator, is the subject of a recent book entitled The Man Who Painted the Universe, which tells the story of how he came to create this incredible structure. He hand-painted 5,000 stars as part of the creation of this planetarium, making it one of the most individual buildings of its kind. Only three other globe planetariums have been created throughout history, one dating back to the 1600s. Kovac Planetarium is a one-of-a-kind marvel and is the most isolated planetarium in the country.
Currently, the planetarium is carrying a debt of about $85,000 from construction costs, forcing the creator to go back to work full time and limiting the amount of time the planetarium can benefit those who want to learn more about the universe.
As seen at https://www.gofundme.com/8cg8c5p4, the GoFundMe campaign is helping to raise funds so that the planetarium can continue its mission to help others learn more about space and the stars, as well as how the earth fits into the cosmic structure of the universe. For more information on donating to this worthy cause, visit the GoFundMe page.
