La Barbrecue, Micklethwait, Banger's & More to Compete in 365 Things Austin, Sausage Kings of Austin

365 Things Austin Announces The Sausage Kings of Austin Competition

Austin, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/26/2016 -- Wednesday, January 27th the "Kings" of the Austin sausage scene will gather at North Austin's Austin Beerworks to put their specialty links to the test. Establishments from the trailer to the upscale will premier a selection of off-menu sausages in a friendly combination that will determine who has the best wiener in town.

The sausage purveyors scheduled to compete include Micklethwait Craft Meats, Salt & Time, la Barbecue, Smokey Denmark, Dai Due, Frank, Freedmen's, Easy Tiger and Banger's. A $24 admission includes samples of all eight sausages as well as other goodies. Enjoy three Austin Beerworks drafts of your choice AND take a commemorative glass home. Enjoy the smooth sounds of The Urban Achievers Brass Band and vote for your favorite to help decide which is the best sausage in Austin!

These sausages aren't your typical ballpark fare. Dai Due brings traditional sausages sourced from local pastured pork that pay homage to German, Mexican and Cajun roots. Micklethwait stuffs their sausage in a 112 square-foot trailer and will still blow your socks off. Frank offers exotic combinations like The Jackalope: an antelope, rabbit, and pork sausage. Or the Creole Gator that—you guessed it—is straight made from alligator. With options like these on their regular menu, who knows what they'll break out for the competition?

Austin Beerworks is known for its four core beers: Fire Eagle IPA, Black Thunder German-Style Schwarz, Peacemaker Anytime Ale, and Pearl-Snap German-Style Pils. Each brew is crisp and clean and pairs perfectly with the strong flavors of artisanal sausages. They also have a selection of exclusives on tap you can try with your complimentary commemorative glass. There are only 250 tickets available and they're going fast… so get yours today!

Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Please consider taking a Lyft or Uber to and from the event.
