Lamar Hunt Jr.'s Missouri Mavericks Sign Two Forwards

The ECHL Missouri Mavericks recently announced the signing of two forwards to their team in preparation for the 2015-16 season. Forwards John Schiavo and Liam Stewart have signed standard player contracts with the Mavericks.

 

Kansas City, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/05/2015 -- Lamar Hunt Jr.'s ECHL team the Missouri Mavericks recently announced that forwards John Schiavo and Liam Stewart have been signed to play in the 2015-16 season. The two new forwards were given standard player contracts.

Forward John Schiavo was noticed by the Missouri Mavericks Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Richard Matvichuk at a New York Islanders Mini Camp earlier this summer. The New York native is 21 years old and was picked up after impressing the Missouri Mavericks coaching staff at the mini camp with a shootout goal. This will be Schiavo's first professional hockey season.

Former Spokane Chiefs forward Liam Stewart was signed to the Mavericks after showing good numbers and character qualities in his time spent with the junior league. The 21 year old Stewart scored 57 goals and 75 assists with the WHL team throughout the time he spent playing for them in Washington State. The 2015-16 season with the Mavericks will be Stewart's first pro season as well.

The Mavericks will play their first home game this month on October 24th at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.
