Lamar Hunt Jr.'s ECHL Team Add Right Wing and Defenseman

Lamar Hunt Jr.'s Missouri Mavericks announced the addition of Danick Paquette and Dax Lauwers to the 2015-16 roster.

Kansas City, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/09/2015 -- The Missouri Maverick's, owned by Lamar Hunt Jr., have announced the addition of two new players to their ECHL roster ahead of the 2015-16 season. Danick Paquette and Dax Lauwers have been signed to standard player contracts with the Mavericks.

After spending two seasons playing for the ECHL Utah Grizzlies, the 24 year old right wing Danick Paquette joins the Missouri Mavericks to continue his ECHL career. Paquette was previously drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and has played for two American Hockey League teams: the Hershey Bears and the Chicago Wolves.

The 24 year old defenseman Dax Lauwers has less professional hockey experience than Paquette but spent time playing for the ECHL last season with the Colorado Eagles. Prior to playing in the ECHL, Lauwers played defenseman for Northeastern University and has also played consistently in four other hockey leagues since 2008.

Both Lauwers and Paquette spoke with the Missouri Mavericks coaching staff before their hiring and have said they feel well suited to play this month for the team. The first home game of the season will be held on October 24th at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in the Independence Events Center.
