Lamar Hunt Jr. Continues to Support Community Housing of Wyandotte County

Lamar Hunt Jr. continues to support the Community Housing of Wyandotte County organization through the Loretto Foundation. CHWC finished another house in Wyandotte County this week.

 

Kansas City, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/12/2015 -- The Community Housing of Wyandotte County continues to receive support from the Loretto Foundation and Lamar Hunt Jr. Recently the Loretto Foundation was a sponsor of the 2015 annual Center Circle Event. The annual CHWC fundraising event recognized Susan Carroll, Tom Bickimer, and James J. Owens for their contributions to the revitalization of Kansas City, Kansas neighborhoods.

Lok and Kali Pokwal were helped by the CHWC with the building of their brand new Kansas City home. The home was completed October 9 with the help of KC Home Buyers. CHWC is now working on completing a garden hoop house within Kansas City to grow free produce for the community. This summer CHWC gave away 1,000 pounds of fresh produce grown in their garden and the organization is looking forward to giving away more before Thanksgiving.

Weekly public meetings called "Firehouse Fridays" are held to provide access to casual conversation about the CHWC at A Cup on the Hill coffeehouse in Kansas City, KS. The CHWC is open from Monday through Friday to help answer the public's questions about renting or buying a home and provide help in rebuilding neighborhoods in the area of Kansas City, Kansas.
