Lamar Hunt Jr.'s Missouri Mavericks Announce Team Captain

Lamar Hunt Jr.'s ECHL team the Missouri Mavericks recently announced their official team captain and alternative captains for the 2015-16 season.

 

Kansas City, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/20/2015 -- The Missouri Mavericks, an ECHL team owned by Lamar Hunt Jr., announced the names of their new team captain and alternative captains on October 16. Trevor Ludwig will play for the Mavericks as their new captain, Andrew Courtney and Kane Lafranchise will play as alternative captains.

Trevor Ludwig was recently added to the Missouri Mavericks in a trade from the Allen Americans ECHL team earlier this October. Ludwig was made captain for the first time in his professional career after playing well for the Mavericks against the Aces in exhibition games last week after his addition to the team.

Andrew Courtney was awarded the alternative captain position for the second season in a row, having played the same position in the 2014-15 season. He is known for his status as a fan and crowd favorite and is welcomed back warmly by Head Coach Richard Matvichuk and the rest of the coaching staff.

Kane Lafranchise, the second alternative captain announced by the Mavericks, was said to be a stand out leader by Head Coach Richard Matvichuk. He has experience playing as an alternative captain for the ECHL team the Alaska Aces and has skating experience playing for the American Hockey League teams the Utica Comets, Abbotsford Heat, and Oklahoma City Barons.

The Missouri Mavericks will return home to play their first home game of the season at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on October 24th. The first home game of the 2015-16 Mavericks season will be played against the team's local rivals the Wichita Thunder.
