Chicago, IL -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/26/2014 -- Cartegram inspires people to find simple adventures and create new memories. Smartphones have given them the opportunity to take and share photos, but they also distract people from paying attention to their beautiful surroundings. Cartegram is a game that nudges people towards exploring the real world on their own, while also contributing to a vast global collaboration.
Players are tasked with finding loosely defined elements in their own city. Upon finding the best possible example (in the player's opinion), an adhesive icon should be placed on an object and a photo should be taken that includes the icon somewhere in view, even if it's tiny. Each stage comes with one icon, so players should be thoughtful when choosing their spot. Upon completing a stage, an Instagram photo should be taken and tagged with Cartegram and the stage number so other players can compare their findings.
10 versions of Cartegram were constructed by hand and mailed to close friends and connections around the world to test the game out and collect insights. Over the last two months, the stages have been refined to accommodate many different environments and copy has been tweaked to be as clear and concise as possible.
Printing custom paper goods doesn't work well in small quantities. This Kickstarter will help do two things:
1) Pump up the volume of players and reduce costs for everyone.
2) Build up demand for this game among early community members.
This project will only be funded if at least $1,500 is pledged by Wed, Jul 23 2014 8:00 AM +05:30.
