San Bernardino, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2014 -- Lesli Gooch, a community representative in Alexandria, Virginia running for California’s 31st congressional district, lectured a reporter on Twitter for questioning where she has voted before.
Sharon McNary, a reporter for Southern California Public Radio, sent a tweet to Gooch asking her if it was her first time voting in San Bernardino County. Gooch had earlier announced on Twitter that she had voted that day in a state senate special election.
“Democracy has no zip code,” Gooch shot back in a tweet, before going on, referring to the district as “where I call home."
Public records show that as recently as February 3, Gooch was listed as a community representative to the Eisenhower West Small Area Plan Steering Committee, which works under the city of Alexandria's planning and zoning umbrella on issues related to the Eisenhower West area. Records list Gooch as representing her fellow homeowners in the Summers Grove neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia, before the steering committee.
Alexandria is a suburb of Washington, D.C.
