Less than Five Percent of US Manufacturers Conduct Ongoing Cybersecurity Vulnerability Scanning
Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/03/2016 -- While manufacturers and distributors face mounting cybersecurity risks, some are not doing enough to address the issue. Only one-third of manufacturers and distributors conduct penetration testing on an annual basis -- leaving their intellectual property and corporate information vulnerable to attacks.
According to Cutler, "Manufacturers and distributors, like companies in other industries, face mounting cybersecurity risks. Most manufacturers do not do enough to address the issue and protect intellectual property and sensitive data and information. Warding off cyber threats, including cyberespionage, is a top corporate priority across industries, but manufacturers and distributors a doing a poor job protecting patents, designs and formulas, as well as private company and employee information."
Cutler anticipates the increasing challenges of cybersecurity will rank among the top three issues of North American manufacturers who are increasing utilizing a global supply chain. This multinational sourcing process drives the need to proactively assess risk profile and take necessary steps to address weaknesses. Less than five percent (5%) of all U.S. manufacturers conduct ongoing vulnerability scanning to protect against new threats.
