Limiting Coverage and Raising Premiums

A Florida insurance company made headlines in 2018 when it made changes to its policies that would cap coverage of non-weather-related water damage at $10,000 for policyholders who opted not to use its approved managed repair contractor network. This network is comprised of handpicked contractors that the insurer believes may assist with stemming the common practice of contractors pressuring policyholders into signing over the claim benefits, performing work that is unnecessary, and then suing insurance companies if they refuse to pay.

Miami, FL -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/06/2019 -- Despite placing coverage limits on policyholders in regards to water damage if they choose to go with contractors not approved by the insurer, the company is still raising insurance policy premiums, a move expected to go into effect in September.
