London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/17/2016 -- Leading UK suppliers of bespoke natural stone, crafted stonework and contemporary paving London Stone are currently on a mission to raise as much money as possible for Duchenne UK, a charity dedicated to funding and enhancing treatments for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This has come about after their late friend Karl Kuhwald's three year old son Felix was diagnosed with DMD in 2013.
The muscle-wasting condition predominantly affects young boys and many with DMD struggle with mobility issues by the age of eight and become wheelchair bound between ten and fourteen. It is a severe life limiting condition that results in many sufferers only living into their twenties, suffering from respiratory or heart failure. As Felix and many other boys with the disease are so young however London Stone are now aiming to raise £30,000 to aid research into DMD, with the hope for a cure to finally be found.
This is how London Stone plan to raise the £30,000:
- London Stone have committed to providing "Team Felix" a permanent web page on their website, containing Felix's story and also a link to the Duchenne UK Just Giving Page.
- On World Duchenne Awareness Day (7th September) the company are going to be offering a variety of fundraising activities across their social media pages for example "Flexing your biceps for Felix" where participants must tweet a picture of their strength along with the hashtag #ShowYourStrength – The company will donate money every time someone gets involved. You can follow them on Twitter to get involved.
- A three day sponsored walk along Hadrian's Wall, again this is something that all can get involved with.
- As Felix celebrates his fourth birthday in January, for every Facebook like London Stone receive they will make a donation of £5.
- To celebrate Karl Kuhwald's birthday on April 9th the company will donate 10% of their turnover.
