Minneapolis Funkmaestro Meets Material Girl at "Darling Niki" Tribute Show

“Darling Niki” a Cabaret/Burlesque Tribute to Prince & Madonna will have you thanking your lucky star for such a funky time! - Cambridge, MA

Cambridge, MA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/10/2014 -- Are you ready to open your heart? To express yourself? Are you ready to party like it’s 1999?

If so, then “Darling Niki” is the show for you.

Always sassy, brassy, and nigh to bursting from her bustier, comedian & vocalist Niki Luparelli leads her band, The Gold Diggers, and a dazzling array of neo-burlesque performers in an evening honoring two of the top pop stars of the '80s. “Darling Niki: A Cabaret/Burlesque Tribute to Prince and Madonna” occurs on one night only, Friday, Jan. 24, at Club Oberon, 2 Arrow St, Harvard Square. You'd better thank your lucky star and put on your raspberry beret, because this show will push you well over the borderline.

In addition to ample musical support from the Gold Diggers (featuring keyboardist/singer Dapper Dan Burke, bassist Miss Christine, guitarist Camille McClellan, drummer “Legs and Eggs” Greg, saxophonist Gin St. Germaine, and violinist Olga Supernova) and back-up singers the Luparelli Sisters (Susan and Apollonia), “Darling Niki” will feature burlesque from Providence-based burlesque provocateur BettySioux Tailor, Boston-based exotica experts Babes in Boinkland, and gender-bending soul-stealer Allix Mortis, as well as death-defying aerial feats from Miss Fonda Feeling.

With a stage persona that deftly blends the best of Marilyn Monroe, Bette Midler, and Dean Martin, Niki Luparelli has been wowing area audiences for years with her pin-up girl curves, powerful singing voice, bawdy wit, and adorable drunk act.

Once hailed as being “(expletive) hilarious” by comedian Steven Wright and complimented for her pleasant smell by the Monkees’ Davy Jones (R.I.P.), Luparelli has also produced “Oh! You Pretty Things: A Burlesque/Cabaret Tribute to David Bowie" and the shaken not stirred “James Bond Cabaret." One half of the comedic duo The Steamy Bohemians and co-host/producer of the critically acclaimed traveling variety show Jerkus Circus, she made her national television debut last year on AMC's “Showville.”

Known for her off-the-cuff (and nearly out-of-the-corset) banter, Luparelli—who also moonlights as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator—is the epitome of “blond ambition.” She and her bevy of sexy dancers are likely to leave you breathless, burning up, and surely having a funky time.

“Darling Niki: A Cabaret/Burlesque Tribute to Prince and Madonna,” will take place on Friday, Jan. 24 at Club Oberon, 2 Arrow St., Harvard Square (www.cluboberon.com), Cambridge, Mass.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m. Must be 18-plus to enter, 21-plus to drink. Tickets are $20-$30 and are available at www.cluboberon.com.
