More Than 13% of the Workforce Complete a 48 Hour Week or More: Inspire 360 Comments

Manchester, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/09/2015 -- Recent statistics show that increasing numbers of British workers are at risk of exhaustion and burn-out due to the amount of time they spend in activities linked to work. The number of people putting in more than 48 hours a week has risen to 13% of the total workforce, a figure up by 15% from 2010. Working 48 hours a week or more can cause problems, not only for the health and wellbeing of employees, but also their social and personal lives. The findings were made by the Trade Union Congress which concluded that whilst the number of people working such long hours declined a few years ago, it now appears on the rise again.

The concept of lengthy working hours, often in intense working conditions, has led to the phrase 'burn out Britain': with growing recognition that long working hours is a problem which needs to be constructively addressed. Longer working hours may be the choice for some employees, though in many circumstances, longer hours are caused as a result of staff feeling over-burdened by the work they have been assigned and thus forced into taking extra time to complete it. This system of overworking and excess hours is unhealthy and can have a detrimental effect.

Fortunately, there are constructive steps which can be taken so that the circumstances pushing employees to work longer hours may be reduced. One popular method is to work smarter not longer, by learning effective time-management skills, so that the time employees are actually working productively. This means that workers have a better chance of bringing their workload under control and then having a healthy life balance. One example of a technique used to implement this outlook is NLP – Neuro Linguistic programming. It is an innovative approach which involves establishing an understanding between the way people think and act. It is already being widely implemented in workplaces to reduce stress, increase time management skills and hopefully ease cases of overtime.

Key providers of NLP services who are really making moves in the business world are Inspire 360 – and a spokesperson had this to say:

"The news that many people are pushed into working overtime due to feeling over-burdened by their employment requires immediate address.
