London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/26/2016 -- Research from the University of New Hampshire has recently been revealed suggesting that although moving house can be incredibly stressful for many, it can in fact be good for one's memory; providing some comfort to all whom are looking to move in the near future. With the average person in the UK moving house five times throughout their lives, previous polls have found it to be something that most find to be one of the most stressful experiences, however maybe these people will look at moving in a different light now.
1,100 people over the age of 65 took part in this research and were asked to list five of their most memorable experiences from when they were aged between 45 and 60. They were asked to describe their emotions attached to each experience and told that each experience listed must have only lasted one day. When looking at data it became apparent that 26% of the experiences listed happened around the time of a house move, suggesting that moving house contrary to what many think has a positive effect on autobiographical memory.
A spokesperson from leading London removals firm Top Removals was keen to comment saying, "This study has only highlighted the importance of ensuring house moves are completed in the most efficient and stress-free manners. This is something that we here at Top Removals can help with; from beginning to completion, we ensure that all of our clients are happy and as relaxed as possible at all times – leaving them with nothing but great memories."
