Multiple Sclerosis Sufferer Ryan Murray Seeks Funding via YOU CARING to Support His Treatment

Thirty-nine years old Ryan Murray was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004. He needs £85,000 to undergo medical procedures that may have a life-changing impact on his health.

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/31/2015 -- Ryan Murray, long distance runner and martial art enthusiast, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004. For the first 9 years, he managed to live with the symptoms secretly – and even managed to complete the famous Marathon Des Sables to raise money for a charity called Facing Africa in 2011. Unfortunately, some of the deadly effects of Multiple Sclerosis have already started impacting his life. Ryan has recently started a crowdfunding campaign via YOU CARING (http://bit.ly/1IqlVaB ) with the hope of garnering financial assistance that will help him fund two life-changing medical procedures that may reduce, and hopefully reverse the negative impacts of MS.

Multiple Sclerosis is currently considered to be an incurable disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks myelin that protects the nerves. It impacts the entire nervous system, and there can be many different and unpredictable symptoms.

Some of the symptoms that have already affected Ryan are:

- Tremor affecting upper limbs, making it almost impossible to work, cook, eat (with a knife and fork), write, type, etc.
- Extreme fatigue
- Loss of balance, coordination and his ability to walk normally.
- Loss of general mental wellbeing.
- Bad memory, speech difficulties, visual problems, big mood swings and occasional fits of anger.

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) and MRI-guided Focused Ultrasound (FUS) are the two highly recommended medical procedures for MS patients. HSCT involves chemotherapy to wipe out the faulty immune system, followed by a transplant of Stem Cells to recreate a healthy immune system. Whereas, FUS is a neurosurgical procedure that effectively reduces the tremor in MS sufferers by 80%-90%. Through these medical treatments, Ryan hopes to resume a relatively normal life and go back to work full-time.

Unfortunately, Ryan is in no condition to pay for his treatment. He has recently started a YOU CARING campaign to raise £85,000 that will pay for all his medical expenses. If he is able to raise any additional funds, Ryan will spend that money to create a website that will support fellow MS sufferers with advice, support groups (which are surprisingly lacking), medical news and discussion forums – using what he has learnt and experienced to help others.
